Another fantastic museum located on the Bygdøy peninsula is the Kon-Tiki Museum. It houses artefacts from the famous Kon-Tiki expedition, which was led by the Norwegian explorer Thor Heyerdahl.
Heyerdahl crossed the Pacific Ocean on a raft made only of balsa wood. The museum exhibition includes a large collection of items related to Heyerdahl and his journeys.
You can also find Heyerdahl’s library, replete with 8,000 books. One of the most exciting installations in the museum is the underwater exhibition, which contains a model of a 10 meter long whale shark.
There is also a 30 meter cave tour, during which you can watch the Oscar winning documentary film Kon-Tiki.
